Visani is the castle on Kings Highway. Italian steakhouse in front, comedy theater in back. Dinner is on whether there is a show or not. The comics are booked through The Comedy Zone, the Charlotte, North Carolina outfit that also books Florida Rep. It is the Port Charlotte stop on the Southwest Florida club map, next to Off the Hook in Naples and Snappers in Fort Myers. The full local map is here.

How a night works
Shows are 18 and older with a parent or guardian, 23 and older without. There is a $20 food-or-drink minimum per person. No-shows still get charged that minimum. Tickets are non-refundable unless you buy their ticket insurance. Special events, including Steve-O and Tommy Davidson, add a 20 percent server gratuity.
Mark Asciutto built the 6,000-square-foot castle and opened it around 2005 with a Comedy Zone franchise. Kelly Crossett and Eric Andreas bought in on New Year’s Day 2015 and kept Comedy Zone on the books. Leonard Kure still books the room. The same owners later opened Fusion Cantina across Kings Highway.
Tonight: 1st Comic Standing
Tuesday, August 18, 7:30 p.m. is Round 3 of Visani’s 1st Comic Standing. Twelve comics do five clean minutes. No profanity, no drug humor. The prize is a paid feature opening a nationally touring act at Visani and The Comedy Zone. Sign-up is by phone only. Top three can host later rounds or get more time to lock the finals set. Round 4 is September 8. Finals are October 27.
Who is on the calendar
Jim McCue works the room August 19 through 22. Clean crowd work. He founded the Boston Comedy Festival and has a Dry Bar special, Nothing Personal.
