Information we collect
We collect information you choose to give us and information collected automatically when you use the Site.
Information you provide
This may include your name, email address, website, comment text, and any other details you submit when you:
- subscribe to a newsletter or other email list
- leave a comment
- contact us
- create an account (if we offer accounts)
- enter a contest, promotion, or survey
- submit content, tips, or corrections
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site we may collect your IP address, browser type, device information, referring URL, pages viewed, dates and times of visits, and similar usage data. We use this to operate the Site, understand how it is used, detect spam and abuse, and improve our content. This information is not used to sell a list of your name or contact details.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file stored by your browser. We and our service providers use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, measure traffic, serve and measure advertising, and attribute affiliate referrals.
If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies so you do not have to fill them in again. Those cookies last up to one year.
If you visit a login page, we set a temporary cookie to see whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close the browser. When you log in, cookies save login state and screen options. Login cookies last two days (or two weeks if you select “Remember Me”). Screen-options cookies last one year. Logging out removes the login cookies. If you edit or publish an article, a cookie storing that post ID may be set for one day. It includes no personal data.
You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking cookies may limit parts of the Site. Analytics and advertising opt-outs are described below.
Analytics
We may use tools such as Google Analytics to understand how people use the Site. These tools use cookies and may collect information about your use of this Site and other sites. Google’s privacy policy is at https://policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
We may display advertising on the Site, including interest-based ads, through third-party partners (for example Google and other ad networks or publisher ad platforms). Those partners may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your activity on this Site and other sites in order to show ads that are more relevant, measure campaigns, and prevent fraud.
You can review or change ad personalization at https://adssettings.google.com and opt out of many interest-based ads at https://optout.networkadvertising.org or https://optout.aboutads.info. Those opt-out tools themselves use cookies; clearing cookies can reset the opt-out.
We do not sell your name, email address, or other contact information to advertisers. Sharing of identifiers and browsing activity with advertising partners may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” under some state privacy laws. See “Your privacy rights” below.
Affiliate links
The Site may participate in affiliate marketing programs, including ticket platforms, retailers, and the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. That means we may post links that track referrals, and we may earn a commission if you buy something after clicking. Those programs use cookies to assign credit for a sale. We only get paid if you choose to buy. Prices and availability are controlled by the third party, not by us.
Email and newsletters
If you subscribe, we use your email for the list you joined and, from time to time, related updates about the Site or other Tiny House Media, LLC projects we think you may care about. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in the email. We may share your email with the email-service provider that sends the list so they can deliver it. We do not sell our subscriber list.
Comments
If you leave a comment, we collect the data in the comment form plus your IP address and browser user agent to help with spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar to see if you have a profile there. Gravatar’s policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After a comment is approved, your Gravatar (if any) is public next to the comment.
Comments may be checked through an automated spam filter. We may hold comments for moderation. We can edit, unpublish, or delete comments, including comments that are abusive, off-topic, or harmful to the community. If you want a comment removed, email us with a link to it.
Media you upload
If you upload images, avoid files with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Other visitors can download images and read that data.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles may embed videos, clips, posts, tickets, or other content from third parties (for example YouTube, social platforms, or ticketing sites). Embedded content behaves as if you visited that other site. Those sites may collect data, set cookies, and track you, including if you are logged into them.
AI-generated images
Some images on the Site are generated with AI tools and used for illustration (for example featured images). They may not depict a real person, venue, or event. We do not use AI-generated images as a substitute for news photography of a specific person when we are identifying that person.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- operate, secure, and improve the Site
- publish, moderate, and display comments and submitted content
- send newsletters and respond to messages
- measure readership and diagnose problems
- show advertising and attribute affiliate referrals
- detect spam, fraud, and abuse
- comply with law and enforce our terms
Who we share information with
We share information with service providers who help us run the Site (hosting, WordPress, email delivery, analytics, advertising, spam filtering, payment or affiliate networks). They are allowed to use the information only to provide those services to us, except where they have their own relationship with you (for example Google, if you use Google services).
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the Site or other people, or in connection with a merger, sale, or transfer of Tiny House Media, LLC or this Site. If the Site’s assets are sold, information we have collected may be among the assets transferred.
If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.
We do not sell your name or email address as a mailing list.
How long we keep information
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so we can recognize follow-up comments and fight spam. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe and for a reasonable period afterward as required for suppression lists and legal records. Account profile information (if you register) is kept while the account is active. We keep server and analytics logs for a limited period unless we need them longer for security or legal reasons.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, a copy of data you provided, and to opt out of certain advertising “sale” or “sharing.” You may also appeal a denial of a request. These rights are not absolute; we may keep information we need for security, legal, or operational reasons (for example an unsubscribe record).
If you have an account or have left comments, you can also use WordPress tools on the Site (where enabled) to request an export or erasure of personal data associated with that account or those comments.
To make a request, email admin@comedynewsletter.com from the address we should look up, and tell us what you want us to do. We may need to verify it is you.
California and other U.S. state residents
California and some other states give residents the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, including for cross-context advertising. We do not sell your name or email. Sharing of cookie identifiers with advertising partners may count as a sale or share under those laws. Use the ad opt-out links above, and email us if you want to exercise a state privacy right we cannot complete through those tools. We will not discriminate against you for exercising those rights.
EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions
If you are in the EEA, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our processing is generally to operate the Site (legitimate interests), to perform a request you made (contract), or to comply with law. The Site is operated from the United States, so your information may be processed in the U.S. To exercise these rights, write to us at the address above or email admin@comedynewsletter.com.
Children
The Site is directed at adults. It is not directed to children under 18. We operate in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and will not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
User content
If you post comments or other material, you remain responsible for it. You grant Tiny House Media, LLC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the Site for the purpose of operating and promoting ComedyNewsletter.com. We may remove or edit user content that violates the law or our policies.
Entertainment disclaimer
Content on the Site is for entertainment and information. It is not professional, legal, financial, or career advice. We work to be accurate, but we do not warrant that every fact, date, lineup, or ticket link is complete or current. Always confirm show times, tickets, and other details with the official source.
