The Gimmick is the Ybor City art-house comedy room. 2213 East 6th Avenue, Tampa, FL 33605. They call it a comedy house and art studio. Weekly open mics most nights of the week, plus a Saturday showcase. Every night is BYOB. Free parking in the lot across the street.
Comics get on the list by DMing @thegimmickcomedy. Tickets and that week’s door price live on their Eventbrite. Nights usually land between $5 and $8. Cash, Venmo, and Cash App at the door. No refunds.
The weekly mics
Monday, 8 p.m. Five-minute sets. New material, Tampa regulars, and whoever walks in. BYOB.
Title Shot Tuesday, 8 p.m. Five minutes. One winner. The champ gets a spot on a Gimmick showcase.
Thursday Feedback Mic. $5 to watch or perform. List and doors at 7:55 p.m. Regulars and notes. BYOB. Tickets: Eventbrite.
Friday Open Mic, 8 p.m. Anyone who signs up goes up. No résumé. DM Instagram for a spot. Tickets: Eventbrite.
Saturday is a ticketed Ybor comedy show, not a mic. About $20 at the door. 17 and up to watch, 21 and up to drink. Same room, same BYOB rule.
