Wednesday Open Mic Workshop at Stet’s Bar in Fort Myers

If you are in Southwest Florida and you want a weekly stand-up room, Wednesday night at Stet’s Bar in Fort Myers is the one. Social hour from 7 p.m. Sign-up at 7:30. The list closes at 8, when the free workshop and open mic starts. Shelley Kelley runs it with Evolving Comedy. Co-hosts include Emily Fisher and Tim Mayta.

It is free to watch and free to get up. New people are welcome. It is strictly stand-up: no poetry, music, spoken word, or improv.

Get there at 7 if you want a drink and to meet people before the list fills. Sign-up is 7:30. Workshop and show at 8. Shelley Kelley is the contact and host. Emily Fisher and Tim Mayta co-host; other Evolving Comedy members rotate through.

Bring material if you have some. If you do not, watch the list, then come back next week with something written. SWFL comics who work paid rooms around Punta Gorda, Fort Myers, and Naples occasionally try material here.

Evolving Comedy

Evolving Comedy is a Southwest Florida writers and performers group. Their line is “we’re serious about stand-up comedy.” Workshops, showcases, and this weekly free room at Stet’s. Shelley Kelley occasionally books paid shows in the same hall. Wednesday is the open door.

Mic stand behind you. Last joke, seat the mic. Same rules as anywhere, with people in the room who will tell you if you ate the clock. Expect feedback after your set from other comedians and audience members.
